A Boathouse for Everyone

Mon The Fish! was a collaborative, hands-on project which used the life history of brown trout to promote awareness of river ecology among young people across the River Clyde catchment.

Once deemed a biologically dead, ‘zombie river’, the Clyde is slowly recovering and now hosts over 30 species of fish and banks teeming with wildlife. Post-industrial landscapes can and do recover, often with surprising results.

Glasgow has a long and illustrious sporting heritage. In 2010, when Ged O'Brien's Played in Glasgow was first published, he identified 16 sports clubs across the city that were at least 150 years old.

Women, and particularly women in sport, are under-represented on Wikipedia, both in terms of content and in editorial roles. We want to change that with your help!

The West Boathouse project offered an opportunity to review and rethink environmental practices as clubs and tenants of a refurbished historic building.

In late 2019, West Boathouse volunteer Tam McCann passed on a copy of a film he'd been given a decade earlier of footage taken around Dalmarnock in the 1960s.
